Pattern of Limb Injuries in Road Traffic Accident: A Cross-Sectional Study in a Tertiary Health Care Centre in North East India

According to World Health Organization, road traffic accident claims 1.2 million deaths annually and causes up 50 non-fatal injuries. Alimb injury is any a limb, either leg or arm, the toes fingers. Limb injuries include broken bones (cracked fractured bones, eg. arm), dislocations (when bone has been moved dislodged, dislocated shoulder), sprains (injuries ligaments, sprained ankle), strains muscles, strained thigh), nail toenails fingernails, eg., stubbed toe), bruises (colored marks caused by bleeding under skin due an impact). Across-sectional study was conducted in mortuary of tertiary health care centre North-East India. The done from September 2019 August 2021. All cases which were brought for medico legal autopsy included. From present study, it found that maximum number victims two-wheeler accidents most fatalities occurred after reaching hospital, mostly lack prompt aid victim less trauma center region. Injuries seen are abrasion few fracture. cause death major vessels involved fracture causing shock hemorrhage. It also observed multiple limb associated with could be fatal significant (p< .001).
